Chairman's Corner
Welcome to 2018. This is a big year for the Special Olympics movement and equally a big one for the Law Enforcement Torch Run. I am aware that many Torch Run programs are planning activities to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Special Olympics with the highlight being in Chicago in July. LETR Illinois is working closely with Special Olympics Illinois to host a commemorative Torch Run on the morning of Friday, 20 July that will deliver the Flame of Hope to the Eternal Flame Ceremony.

Preparations are well underway for the LETR International Conference, which will be held in Las Vegas in November. International Conference Planning Committee Chair Rodney Seurer is confident that this year's conference will once again raise the bar. It seems like yesterday that our Final Leg team were running through Austria, but that was nearly 12 months ago. The Final Leg team for Abu Dhabi is now being formed with the event just a bit over a year away. How time flies.
- Scott Whyte, Chairman of the Law Enforcement Torch Run International Executive Council
2018 is Special Olympics' 50th Anniversary!

Since 1968, Special Olympics has been changing attitudes about the talents of people with intellectual disabilities. Starting this July, Special Olympics will celebrate 50 years of creating a more inclusive, welcoming world for all. The Law Enforcement Torch Run would like to invite each of your programs to take part as we help launch the Inclusion Revolution!

Join us Friday, July 20 – Saturday, July 21 in Chicago, Illinois, as we celebrate this historical anniversary! Activities during this celebration will include a Unified Cup, Global Day of Inclusion, Eternal Flame ceremony, music concert, and the LETR Commemorative Run! Here are the flier and Save the Date to share with your teams.
